The Women In Trucking Association gathered in Birmingham, Alabama, on April 29, at McLeod Software for a meeting focused on workforce development, industry diversity and expanding career opportunities for women in trucking.
The event showcased the many key roles women hold across the trucking industry, including business ownership, recruiting, data analysis, maintenance, driving, logistics, payroll, safety and accounting. Speakers and panelists emphasized that trucking offers viable, long-term career paths across multiple disciplines.
R.E. Garrison Trucking Executive Director of Safety Tracy Rushing delivered a keynote address highlighting leadership, career growth, and the importance of mentorship. Additional sessions featured discussions on education pathways, professional development, and strategies for long-term success in the trucking industry.
Susan Seymour, Assistant Director of Membership & Events for the Alabama Trucking Association, served as a panelist, sharing insights on workforce development and industry engagement. She also provided an update on the Association’s workforce initiative, My Trucking Future, which continues to address key challenges such as recruitment, retention and career advancement in Alabama.
