Alabama Trucking’s own sponsored trucking tribute band, Heroes of the Highway, is back in the studio this week cooking up a brand new anthem to celebrate the real heroes of the industry, America’s millions of professional truck drivers who safely deliver more than 70 percent of our nation’s freight.
The new song, “Get Miles,” is a bit of a stylistic divergence from last year’s “Highway Dreaming,” which featured the polished vocals and countrypolitan style of the Sweet Tea Trio, turning more towards early 2000s post-grunge, fueled up with driving guitars, soaring vocals and splashy drums that dominate for more edge and power.
Musicians Ford Boswell and Will Stewart once again teamed up for songwriting duties, delivering more of the same heartfelt lyrics and honest storytelling that made “Highway Dreaming” so poignant and richly authentic.
This time around, the narrative follows the former career-changing new truck driver hero described in the verses of “Highway Dreaming” to their transition into a seasoned pro trucker, totally locked in, hitting the road, and finally getting the miles and money they deserve – while loving every minute of it, “mile after mile.”

“I’ve never felt so alive,” our Heroes sing – and they mean it.
Keeping things in Alabama, the Heroes are working with Birmingham producer and engineer Les Nuby of Ol’ Elegante Studios, who has lived and worked in the music industry for over 30 years, beginning as the drummer in the late 1990s Birmingham indie-rock powerhouse Verbena, with which Nuby began a steady musical exploration that’s still going. He also handled both drums and lead guitar on “Get Miles.”
“We at Alabama Trucking are doing that in different unique ways, but none cooler and more original than the Heroes of the Highway.” – Joshua Vaughn
Alabama Trucking’s Director of Marketing and Advocacy and the executive producer and creative director for the Heroes, Joshua Vaughn, says the idea behind this campaign is about using music and art to connect with a larger audience and authentically tell the story of Alabama’s trucking industry’s vast opportunities.
“This idea started last year, with the support and guidance of our amazing Alabama Trucking Titans. The Titans issued a challenge to our team – tell our story in a memorable way that connects to people,” says Vaughn. “We at Alabama Trucking are doing that in different, unique ways, but none cooler and more original than the Heroes of the Highway.”
“Get Miles” and a corresponding video are set for release in time for National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, September 13-19, 2026. Stay tuned, literally, for more information and entertainment.
