Governor Ivey issues supplement proclamation to ongoing state of emergency

With Hurricane Irma barreling toward South Florida, Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey yesterday updated her Aug. 30, 2017 Proclamation to the ongoing State of Emergency in Alabama, extending the hours-of-service waiver for motor carriers and waive weight regulations on commercial vehicles transporting emergency-related goods that are in direct response to Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma.

Gov. Ivey issued the original proclamation, citing a dire need for supplies and relief support for victims of the storm across the Gulf Coast, and also for the potential disruption of vital fuel supplies across the Southeast, and beyond. The HOS waiver is effective for 30 days and only pertains only to those drivers directly involved in relief efforts related to Hurricane Harvey or Hurricane Irma.
