Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey has declared a State of Emergency in 39 counties ahead of today’s expected winter weather storm expected for lower Alabama.

The counties under the State of Emergency are Autauga, Baldwin, Barbour, Bibb, Bullock, Butler, Chambers, Chilton, Choctaw, Clarke, Coffee, Conecuh, Coosa, Covington, Crenshaw, Dale, Dallas, Elmore, Escambia, Geneva, Greene, Hale, Henry, Houston, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Mobile, Monroe, Montgomery, Perry, Pike, Randolph, Russell, Sumter, Tallapoosa, Washington and Wilcox.

Among its provisions are specific language pursuant to penalties for fuel and supply price gouging, and the relaxing of certain federal motor carrier restrictions and regulations for drivers and vehicles actively assisting or providing aid and support for relief efforts to those affected by the winter storm.
The State of Emergency went into effect at 5 p.m. on January 20, 2025.
