FMCSA has issued a Regional Emergency Declaration due to severe winter storms, providing temporary Hours-of-Service (HOS) relief for drivers and carriers directly supporting emergency response and restoration of essential supplies and services in 40+ affected states, including Alabama. The waiver applies only to direct emergency relief efforts and remains in effect until the emergency ends or 11:59 PM ET on February 5, 2026, whichever comes first.

It is highly recommended to maintain a copy of the declaration that the carrier is operating under in the vehicle and a bill of lading to help support their response. This will assist carriers/drivers with any questions or issues in the various states they may be traversing to respond to this emergency.
