Forget green screens and soundstages. On Tuesday, the backdrop for Alabama Trucking’s newest music video was a training yard in Bessemer, idling rigs, coupled trailers, and all, because nothing sells a trucking anthem quite like the real thing.

Heroes of the Highway spent the day on location at One-Stop CDL Training, the school Navy veteran Alex Blevins built from the ground up with the help of fellow Alabama Trucking member Steve Weil of Weil Wrecker Service. It’s the same blacktop where nervous students learn to back a 53-ft. trailer for the first time, and now it’s also a music video set. Somehow, that feels exactly right.

Same Crew, New Sound

If “Get Miles” sounds a little different from last year, that’s on purpose. Where 2025’s “Highway Dreaming” leaned soulful, recorded at the legendary Cypress Moon Studios (formerly Muscle Shoals Sound), this year’s anthem cranks the amps up to early 2000s alt rock, think Foo Fighters or The Lemonheads, all power chords and a chorus built to be shouted out a cab window doing 65 down I-20.

The band behind it is the same one that built “Highway Dreaming” from scratch: Will Stewart on lead vocals and guitar, Les Nuby handling lead guitar, bass and drums (and engineering and mixing the whole thing), and Ford Boswell on backing vocals, credited alongside Stewart as co-writer. Unlike last year, there’s no featured guest artist this time around, no Sweet Tea Trio riding shotgun.

Just the band, full volume.

“Get Miles” was tracked at Ol’ Elegante Studios in Homewood and mastered by Alex McCollough at True East Mastering in Nashville, produced once again by Alabama Trucking. The song leans into the open road as therapy, southern hills to western skies, a Pilot sign glowing on a lonely stretch, the particular kind of peace a driver finds once the wheels are turning and the miles start stacking up.

Save the Date

“Get Miles” drops everywhere you stream music, Apple Music, Spotify, and beyond, on September 13, timed to kick off National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. Keep an eye on Alabama Trucking News and Alabama Trucking’s social channels in the coming days.

For a look back at where this all started, last year’s “Highway Dreaming” release, along with the story behind it, is still up at highwaydreaming.com.

It’s a fitting pairing, a song about finding purpose in the miles, filmed at a school built to put more qualified, safety-minded drivers behind the wheel. One-Stop CDL has already sent graduates on to careers with fleets across the state since Blevins founded it, exactly the kind of story Alabama Trucking is proud to support. Mark your calendar for September 13, then crank it up.
