ATA releases updated industry stats on trucking jobs, industry tax contributions

The Alabama Trucking Association has released a new industry “Trucking Fast Facts” stats sheet with numbers and information derived from research and analysis by the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI).

The two-page spread (available here for download as a PDF) contains Alabama-specific jobs numbers, employment figures, and industry tax contributions in the form of local fuel and equipment taxes and usage fees.

“Trucking is the dominant transportation source in Alabama,” says ATA President and CEO Mark Colson. “No other mode delivers the goods as effectively and efficiently as trucking. If you have it, more than likely a truck touched along the way to the store shelf. Through crisis or Christmas, truckers keep America moving forward!”

ATRI has been engaged in critical transportation studies and operational tests since 1954. It serves as a not-for-profit research organization headquartered in Arlington, Va., with offices in Atlanta, Minneapolis, Sacramento and New York. Its primary mission is to conduct transportation research, with an emphasis on the trucking industry’s essential role in a safe, efficient and viable transportation system. ATRI’s research focus areas include congestion and mobility; economic analysis; safety and security; technology and operations; environment; and transportation infrastructure.
