ATA, Alabama AG’s Office to co-host human trafficking summit Feb. 12 in Montgomery

The Alabama Trucking Association through its sponsorship of Truckers Against Trafficking has been long-time supporter in the fight to end human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation.
All trucking industry stakeholders are invited to participate in a special briefing hosted by Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall; ATA; Busing on the Lookout; and Truckers Against Trafficking on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in Montgomery. The meeting will be held at the Office of the Attorney General at 501 Washington Ave., Montgomery, AL 36130. Lunch will be provided.
During the meeting, attendees will learn about law enforcement issues related to child sexual exploitation and human trafficking. They will also be briefed on the harsh realities of domestic sex trafficking and the critical role our industry serves in fighting it.
Because truck drivers are often in locations where these crimes occur, places like truck stops, gas stations, rest areas, busy city streets, loading docks, and the like, they have the unique opportunity to observe and report suspicious activities as they occur, but they need to know what to look for.
The coalition’s goal is to build a cohesive network that will merge trucking’s leadership and resources to help law enforcement more effectively protect exploited men, women and children. We know your time is valuable, but we encourage you to please make time to attend.
