It’s National Small Business Week (May 3-9), an acknowledgment of the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners.
For almost 90 years, the Alabama Trucking Association has fought to promote and protect Alabama’s trucking industry, made up of thousands of small businesses just like yours.
American businesses have served as the cornerstone of our nation’s prosperity and fortified a strong workforce. Today, 36 million small businesses span every community of our country – from family trucking businesses to neighborhood storefronts – and employ more than 45 percent of our workforce.
Started 60 years ago by the U.S. Small Business Administration, National Small Business Week recognizes the many mom-and-pop businesses across the nation for their hard work, ingenuity, dedication, and contributions to their local communities and to the nation’s economy.

Alabama’s Trucking Industry is Made Up of Small Businesses
There are over 31,200 trucking companies based in Alabama, providing 133,650 jobs – that’s 1 of 13 jobs in the state. Most of these are small, family-operated and fiercely independent.
The Alabama Trucking Association advances and enhances the trucking industry in Alabama through state and federal advocacy, safety and compliance support and education, and public relations.
We are proud to represent and support the thousands of small trucking businesses that form the backbone of our industry and our state’s economy. During National Small Business Week – and every week – we celebrate your hard work and dedication. We remain committed to fighting for your interests and ensuring the continued success of Alabama’s trucking community – no matter its size or sector.
Thank you for all that you do. Keep on trucking and keep on working!
