Joshua Vaughn works for Alabama Trucking as Director of Advocacy and Marketing. As an 11-year veteran of the Business Council of Alabama, Vaughn played a pivotal role in communicating with and advocating for Alabama’s diverse business community. Pharmacy Benefit Manager Bill Goes to the Governor

The combined pharmacy reimbursement bill introduced last week, SB 252, passed both chambers and is headed the Governor’s desk for her final signature. This PBM bill still maintained the Alabama Medicaid matching dispensing fee that is currently at $10.64. Amendments to the bill exempted the fee from health plans for public employees, removed specialty medications from the reimbursement requirement lessoning the burden on medical insurance providers, and removed an alarming cause of action component that many business and trade groups including the Alabama Trucking Association has concern over.

There has been no official comments from the Governor’s office on the legislation, but she is expected to sign the legislation into law.


Alfa Health Insurance Bill Passes House Committee

The Alabama Farmers Federation health insurance bill, HB477, by Rep. David Faulkner, R-Mountain Brook, passed a Alabama House Committee and is heading to the full body. Alfa has proposed this legislation as an opportunity to offer more health insurance options for Alabamians. While this health insurance option has been crafted with Alabama farmers in mind, it would available to anyone who meet’s the requirements.

The bill was amended in committee to create more oversight and cover more conditions.
