MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama Trucking Association, in partnership with Trucking Moves America Forward (TMAF), is excited to announce a robust public awareness campaign in celebration of the annual National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, Sept. 10-16, 2023, dedicated to recognizing and supporting the hardworking professional truck drivers who serve as the backbone of America’s transportation industry.

From now until October 10, 2023, billboards paying tribute to these dedicated professionals will grace the highways and freeways of Alabama, prominently displayed in key markets including Birmingham, Dothan, Huntsville, Mobile and Montgomery.

The billboards showcase the remarkable stories of Alabama-based award-winning truck drivers, Felicia Adu and Emanuel Windham, with a message that emphasizes their pivotal role in driving Alabama’s businesses and the state’s economy forward.

The creative slogans, “A Driving Force for Alabama Businesses” and “A Driving Force for the Alabama Economy,” underscore the critical impact of trucking on the state’s prosperity.

Windham, a highly respected truck driver and owner-operator from Birmingham, shared his perspective, says, “Trucking isn’t just a job for me; it’s a commitment to excellence, a dedication to safety, and a way to make lives better, one mile at a time.”

Meanwhile, Adu, a recent addition to the industry after a career in the medical field says, “Before I became a trucker, I was a certified nurse assistant working in a doctor’s office, so trucking was a big change. I like doing this work more because I like being outside rather than in an office, and I am more hands-on with things. It also makes it easier with my daughter because being in the truck with her helps me think and provides a more open space for me.”

During this National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, we encourage everyone to take a moment to express gratitude when they see a truck on the highway or a driver taking a break at a rest stop. These individuals are the unsung heroes responsible for delivering the essential goods that keep America moving forward.

It’s an opportunity to recognize and honor the vital role truckers play in keeping our communities supplied with the critical goods we sometimes take for granted. To all the dedicated drivers out there who make a difference every day, we extend our heartfelt thanks.
