The Alabama Trucking Association’s Safety and Maintenance Management Council is composed of safety and maintenance professionals from trucking companies all over the state of Alabama. These men and women take a leadership role in contributing to highway safety by sharing their extensive experience for the benefit of the entire organization. To get to know these individuals, and to be able to call upon their expertise, is worth much more than the amount of annual dues. But, membership in the SMMC means a lot more. Guest speakers at monthly meetings provide up-to-date information on the very latest innovations in technology, proposed and finalized federal and state regulations, and a wide variety of other timely subjects.

Other SMMC activities, such as the annual Alabama Truck Driving Championships and Courtesy Roadside Inspections, give members an opportunity to participate in programs that help spread the Association’s message of highway safety to the general public and help members stay informed about the ever-changing climate of the trucking industry.

SMMC activities and services include:

• Annual Safety Awards including Driver of the Year, Safety Professional of the Year and Maintenance Professional of the Year

Alabama's Road Team

Delivering ATA's highway safety message to the public with a personal touch.

Alabama's Road Team, established in 2000, is a public speaking service of the Alabama Trucking Association. The goals of the program are to address highway safety within the trucking industry and to educate the motoring public about the dangers of driving near large commercial vehicles and the impact trucking has on Alabama's economy.

The professional truck drivers who make up Alabama's Road Team have been selected on the basis outstanding safety records and ability to communicate their commitment to safety and courtesy on our state's and nation's highways.

These individuals are ambassadors of the trucking industry and take a few days away from their duties as drivers each month to speak to civic organizations, classrooms, businesses and media.

Alabama's Road Team is a free service and is available upon request to any group needing a public speaker to inform or entertain. Road Team presentations include Share the Road demonstrations and a variety of other topics related to the industry.
