TRUK-PAC: Creating a Pro-Truck Climate
TRUK-PAC is the Alabama Trucking Association's non-partisan political action committee, and a key part of its advocacy program.
TRUK-PAC was established to promote and support legislators and elected government officials who are pro-truck (those concerned with legislation affecting the future of highway transportation of freight).
During the election year of 2014, ATA's political action arm spent $1,029,500 supporting selected “pro-truck” candidates for statewide offices and state legislative district seats. Eighty-four (84) cents out of every dollar spent went to winners.
Winners included candidates for Governor, Lt. Governor and two (2) seats on the State Supreme Court. In State Senate contests, TRUK PAC supported candidates won 25 seats, and lost only on two. In the House, our candidates won 48 seats, and lost 9.
TRUK-PAC relies on its members' voluntary contributions and its primary fundraiser, the Annual ATA Golf Classic, to fund the PAC.
TRUK-PAC Trustees include: Buddy Moore (Chairman), Greg Brown (Vice Chairman), Driscoll Colquett, Jack Fricks, Drew Linn, Bruce McDonald, Barry McGriff, Hunter Lyons, Kevin Savoy, Harold Sorrells, Ronnie Stephenson, and Paul Story. ATA president & CEO Frank Filgo serves as the PAC Secretary-Treasurer.
