Early on the morning of April 17, 2012, 21-year-old Chandler Gerber was driving to his job at a carpet cleaning business in Indiana. Nothing unusual about the day -- the drive to work was typical, so he grabbed his phone for a quick text exchange with his wife at home. Shortly after moving his eyes down from the road towards his lap his life and the lives of three others were changed forever.
Gerber traveling approximately the speed limit of 60 MPH rear-ended a horse and buggy carrying an Amish family, killing two young children and a teen, and injuring one adult.
From One Second to the Next weaves together the stories of four people, including Gerber, impacted by distraction at the wheel. The 35-minute documentary by film legend Werner Herzog delves into the impact of texting while driving. It debuted on YouTube this week.
