ATA
taps long-time allied member Bill Scruggs as Chairman
Birmingham business owner Bill Scruggs was tapped head of the
Alabama Trucking Association at ceremony held recenly at the
group's Montgomery headquarters.
Scruggs accepted the Chairman's gavel from outgoing Chairman
of the Board, Buck Moore, of Buddy Moore Trucking in Birmingham,
during the group’s Officer Installation, Tuesday, June
26.
ATA's new Chairman is the owner of Scruggs Trailer & Equipment,
and has been an active industry leader for more than 30 years,
serving on ATA’s executive board since 1989 and as a charter
member of the National Trailer Dealers Association in Farmington
Hills, Mich. since 1990. He is also a current member of the
Board of Directors for Birmingham Bancorp South.
"I’m honored to serve Alabama’s trucking industry,
and I look forward to leading our Association to great things
in the coming year," he said.
The incoming chairmen identified membership recruitment, boosting
participation from existing ATA members, and providing members
with more safety training and member services as areas he'd
like to target during his chairmanship, which generally coincides
with the Association's fiscal year of July 1 to June 31.
Scruggs Trailer & Equipment provides new and used semi
trailers, including flatbeds, vans and reefers and is an authorized
dealer for Transcraft, Featherlite, Continental Cargo, Anderson
and Lone Wolf. |
